We ha a nice steady flow of birds going, and we caught our 600th bird of the season (which of course was a Wilson's warbler) The most surprising bird we caught which is a 7th banding record for Chico was a Black-throated Blue Warbler! Hopefully it sticks around for a bit, but we are expecting a lot of movement through the central flyway tonight!
Chico captures for 9/21:
Wilson's Warbler 27
Orange-crowned Warbler 10
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 2
Hammond's Flycatcher 1
Black-throated Blue Warbler 1
House Wren 1
Plumbeous Vireo 2
Ovenbird 1
Slate-colored Junco 1
Lincoln's Sparrow 1
Hermit Thrush 4
Gray Catbird 1
Green-tailed Towhee 1
Veery 1
We are open 6 days a week at Chico Basin Ranch (closed Sunday), usually returning from the first net run around 7am and staying open until about 11:30am, weather permitting. Thank you for your continued support! My last day banding at the station will be October 2nd, so come check out banding while you can!
