Winter Wren Chatfield SP

I observed a winter wren along Plum Creek a short distance downstream from where the Highline Canal crosses Plum Creek. Park at the Highline Canal parking lot on Roxborough Park Road and walk east along the canal to the large concrete structure.

There are two spurs coming in from the east side. It was first 50 feet downstream of the larger spur and then later 100 feet upstream of the smaller upstream spur. Before this spur comes in, Plum Creek has a very small flow.

Separation from Pacific Wren was primarily from listening to it's chip notes and chattering from comparing them to recordings on my iPod of both species. The throat was more pale than the rest of the breast.
