Today was quite similar to yesterday, with a busy rush of birds in the first hour, that quickly tapered off for the rest of the morning. We closed a bit early due to wind, but still got in nearly a full morning. We had our FOS Blue Grosbeaks and Western Wood-Pewees, both of which we'd been seeing but not catching over the past few days. In total we banded 27 new birds of 12 species.

Willow Flycatcher - 4
Dusky Flycatcher - 1
Western Wood-Pewee - 2
Yellow Warbler - 3
Wilson's Warbler - 1
MacGillivray's Warbler - 3
Lincoln's Sparrow - 4
Swainson's Thrush - 3
Brown-headed Cowbird - 1
Blue Grosbeak - 2
Gray Catbird - 1
Bullock's Oriole - 2

We are open 3 days per week (Friday - Sunday) through May 30th. Chico Basin Ranch is once again open to the public and visitors are welcome at the banding station, click here for more details on visiting. We are opening nets at about 5:30am and continuing for 5 hours, depending on weather.
