Today was a steady bird day, with our second-highest total of the season at 18 birds of 8 species.  One of our birds was a very pretty first-of-season young male American Redstart, which is rarely captured here (a picture is at the end of this post).  We also got a steady supply of kinglets, which seem to have come in force.

Wilson's Warbler 1
Orange-crowned Warbler 2
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 3
American Redstart 1 (FOS)
House Finch 1
White-crowned Sparrow (Mountain) 3 (FOS)
White-crowned Sparrow (Gambel's) 6
Spotted Towhee 1

Don't forget that tomorrow is public banding day at Connected Lakes State Park from 7:30 to 11:00 (weather permitting)!  Arrive early, since that's when you're most likely to see birds (and it looks like the wind might pick up later).  Anyone who can't make it is welcome to stop by any Monday-Friday until Oct 11.
