Hi all -

This afternoon I made a quick trip up to the location where the Dunlin
has been intermittently seen over the past week. When I arrived, it
was on the sandbar on the east side of the McKay bridge. I was able
to get some poor-quality pictures.

Shortly after I arrived, it vanished and I could not re-find it on
either side of the bridge.

Also in the area was one male Cinnamon Teal (and gobs of Northern Shoveler)

This is a challenging location to bird as the bike-trails in the area
are closed and gated, so viewing is from McKay Road which is fairly
narrow and busy.

Good birding,

The DUNLIN and male CINNAMON TEAL continue at this location.  Late this afternoon, the Dunlin was working the rocky edge of the water (i.e., not the sandbar) about 200 yards east of the McKay bridge.

Some of the big ponds on either side of the South Platte River hosted quite a few ducks and gulls today.  The biggest surprise was an adult ICELAND GULL, seen on one of the ponds east of the river, between McKay and 88th.  It flew towards the southwest just before sunset, so maybe it was heading to one of the lakes in the southern Denver metro area for the night?

The Dunlin was spotted this morning (3/9) at around 7:45.  It was on the rocky, north side of the South Platte, about 200 yards downstream from the McKay bridge.
