I took a late morning walk along the S. Platte, using 78th Street as my entry point. The river was chock full of ducks in close proximity to the trail. Most abundant were Northern Shovelers numbering in the 100's in the half mile or so that I walked going north toward 88th. There were also good numbers of Gadwall, Mallard, Northern Pintail, Green-winged Teal, Lesser Scaup and Common Goldeneye. In addition there were Bufflehead, a couple of Hooded Mergansers and three each of Barrow's Goldeneye and Greater Scaup. Also of note were a half-dozen Double-crested Cormorants flying overhead and a Yellow-rumped Warbler.
