Swainson's Hawks ground feeding Boulder County

I went past the Little Gaynor Lake on Oxford Road east of 95th Street in Niwot this afternoon, a number of ducks, including some spiffy looking Ruddy Ducks, and then watched three immature Swainson's Hawks along 95th Street between Oxford and Niwot Roads as they foraged for insects on the ground. It was amusing to watch them run, chase, and pounce on what looked like grasshoppers. With all due respect to the beautiful Swainson's, they do look a bit like chickens running around like that!
