Hi COBirders,

After a couple of slow days banding at CSR, the small front and change in weather overnight brought a turnover in birds. Between 7:30 and 9:30 I caught about 30 birds, the most numerous being three flocks of mixed Yellow-rumped Warblers, which have just been seen high in the canopy until now. Definitely the most small passerines I’ve seen so far this season here. It sounds like Dave Elwonger and Gloria N. had similar happenings at the main CSR banding station 1/2 mile S of mine, although they had a higher proportion of Orange-crowned and Lincoln’s.

Banded today:
16 Yellow-rumped Warblers (75% Myrtle, 25% Audubon’s)
4 Orange-crowned Warblers
3 Com Yellowthroat
3 Spotted Towhees
3 Lincoln’s Sparrows
1 Red-winged Blackbird (of the 100’s around there)
1 Am Robin

Happy Migration,
Steve Brown
