Hi All,
Birding this morning I heard a Yellow Warbler singing and stopped to see if I could find it. Finally found the singer perched prominently at the tip of a dead branch on top of a cottonwood -- a beautiful male Lazuli Bunting. In all my experiences with Lazulis, both on the West Slope and Front Range, I never heard one sing like this. I know they have various ways of singing their song, usually more complicated than this "Sweet Sweet Sweet Sweetdeedeedee. Have heard many Yellow Warblers, both on W and E slope, and was so sure that's what I was hearing. Surprise surprise! Isn't birding great!
Anyone else heard a Lazuli sing this song?
Elaine Coley, Loveland
