Hi all,

The parking lots and trails at the Nature and Wildlife Discovery Center in Pueblo (previously called just the Nature Center) are closed for an indefinite period of time after a major flood event left much of the area under a foot or more of mud and debris. Cleanup will take some time. Details and many photos are on their Facebook page, along with contact information for offers of help in cleaning up and donations.

Apparently, the main river trail is usable but muddy. The area can be accessed on foot or bicycle from the Osprey Picnic Area in Rock Canyon in Lake Pueblo State Park or from Pueblo City Park. There may be other “unofficial” access points as well.

Update — the Nature and Discovery Center Facebook page states that the parking areas and trails have been cleared and the area is open.

Cheers,
