Avian disease is definitely still around, and as I'm sure you know, very contagious. We're seeing an average number of birds coming into rehab with conjunctivitis, trichinosis, and salmonella right now, so I wouldn't say that there is a recent uptick. The new "mystery disease" found in eastern states does not seem to have made its way to Colorado yet.
If you are seeing sick birds, you should definitely take your feeders down, clean them with a bleach solution, let them dry in this too-hot sun, and leave them down for a couple of weeks. Also clean out underneath feeders, to discourage birds from congregating on the ground.
If you're not seeing sick birds, you should still clean feeders and scrub out baths regularly to prevent spreading of disease.
