I walked west along the Poudre Trail from 35th Avenue in Greeley today and saw a number of warblers (Yellow and yellow-rumped), some house wrens, shovelers, Western and Clark's Grebes, goldfinches, along with a red headed woodpecker. I used to live in western Kansas along the Republican River where Red headed woodpeckers were not uncommon. There were also a couple of pigeons about a quarter of a mile west of the parking lot sitting on some limbs overhanging the very high river. They were brownish looking in the sun (at 10:30 AM), larger than Mourning doves, and I am wondering if the storms have brought in some Band Tailed pigeons. What are some other's thoughts on that possibility?
