CObirders,
About 10 am this morning I walked west along the Walden/Sawhill boundary, then turned to
the south where I walked along a dirt trail/road until I reached the SW corner of Sawhill Lake #1. What sounded like a dozen chickadees and a bird with a very distinct, hard chip were in a tree between the road and the lake. I finally located the stealthy waterthrush and got excellent looks from about 20'. It had a white breast covered by dark brown stripes, a white supercilium, and pointed bill.
The waterthrush didn't seem to be hanging out with other birds. It flew toward Boulder Creek, and I did not re-find it. A Ruby-crowned Kinglet and several White-crowned Sparrows were in the vicinity.
I'll post a complete list to E-bird. A Prairie Falcon was sitting on a tall power pole by Cottonwood Marsh when I left. I scoped waterfowl on Cottonwood Marsh before I left and found 5 Greater Yellowlegs, 1 Redhead hanging out with a few RIng-necked Ducks, many coots and wigeon and a smattering of other species.
It's a gorgeous day out there-- hope someone re-finds it.
