Walden Ponds/Union Res 4/27

Hi All,

Yesterday since I didn't have school I decided to go on down to Walden Ponds (Boulder County), for a half day trip. Which turned out to be a good idea as the first 4 species I saw were 3 Red Necked Phalaropes,1 Wilsons Phalarope, 14 White Faced Ibis, and a Snowy Egret. I quickly finished up at cottonwood marsh as for shorebirds there were only Killdeer and a Solitary Sandpiper. I went to that path that divides Cottenwood Marsh from the rest of the complex, and found both Myrtle and Audubon Warblers in massive numbers, but even cooler there was a Northern Parula, and 2 Orange Crowned Warblers mixed in. There was also a Fox sparrow seen and heard singing near the duck pond, aswell as 2 soras going nuts.

I later met up with Maikel Wise where we were lucky enough to find 3 more Snowy Egrets, 9 more White Faced Ibis, 1 more Orange Crowned Warbler, and a Female Black-and-White Warbler, in and near some of the WAY BACK ponds.

We then went to Union Reservoir where we saw the 2 Sanderlings previously reported and 5 Black Necked Stilts.
