Prolific* Colorado artist Radeaux, aka Mark Yaeger, painted a watercolor showing DFO's logo bird,
the Lark Bunting, doing its spring display over the short-grass prairie, singing its heart out "on the wing,"
the stunning behavior known as skylarking.
In the background Radeaux illustrates Mount Evans, and in the foreground are native prairie grasses.
The DFO Board gave Mark's dynamic, vibrant image a unanimous vote of approval, and when the logo was shown
to 90 of our stalwart members at the August evening DFO program, there was an ovation.
Today, you'll see the new artwork on our website at:
and on the masthead of DFO's monthly newsletter, The Lark Bunting, Kay Niyo, editor.
Denver Field Ornithologists has an 80 year tradition of conducting 2-4 field trips each weekend,
free and open to the public (see above website for upcoming trips). Our evening program meetings
have been quite popular and are also free and open to the public. We support research and youth activities
through our Grants Fund.
Birders are encouraged to join the club, whether they live in the metro area or points beyond.
We will welcome you at DFO, which brings us together to learn about birds.

DFO president
* Radeaux did species illustrations for Colorado Breeding Bird Atlas I and
the eagerly anticipated Bird Atlas II.
