Fellow birders,
Last week I contacted Mitzy Spader, Lead Supervisor for Security at the Coors Brewery in Golden,
describing how birders have enjoyed the great variety of waterfowl at Coors Ponds (east of McIntyre St, south of Clear Creek) over many years.
I asked her for corporate permission for us to study birds on the ponds through the fence, with explicit permission to take photographs.

She discussed our request with Coors higher-ups, who granted us open access -Green Light.

Birders can park on the shoulder, walk to the fence and study and photograph birds.
I assured her that birders will appreciate these opportunities and be respectful, as we have been.
Coors is interested in good public relations and that was the basis for this agreement.

Ms. Spader assured me that the security personnel have been briefed on the new policy and will no longer stop to chat with birders.

This is good news and a change for the better for all of us.

IF for some reason a security guard approaches you, please mention that access was
granted by "Mitzy Spader in Coors Security" as of January 18.

Please document your sightings to the eBird hotspot there,* and send a brief note to CObirds
about uncommon species.

Joe,

You are and have been the Birding Public Relations Specialist for many years. Thanks again for handling a thorny issue and coming up roses.
