DFO FIELD TRIPS
The DFO Field Trip for Saturday, August 10 will be to Gregory Canyon led by Paul Slingsby (303-422-3728).   Meet the leader at I-70 and Ward Road Park-n-Ride at 0600 or you can meet the group at Gregory Canyon at 0700.  There is a fee per car for non-Boulder residents and very limited parking at the trailhead, so please contact leader to arrange carpooling.  The Gregory Canyon trail is steep and rocky with some loose gravel.  We will walk slowly with frequent stops. Persons concerned about limited agility or energy should discuss the trail conditions with trip leader.  Depending on the group and day our round-trip hike will be 2 miles maximum with elevation gain of 800 to 1000 feet.  One or two participants will carry a spotting scope to be shared, but you are welcome to bring your own.  This is a half day trip so lunch is optional, but you will need drinking water and snacks.  Have appropriate hiking shoes, and be prepared for possible rain or thunderstorm.  It may be cool at the trailhead at 0700.  You may like to have hiking sticks.  Leader will contact participants to cancel in the event of rain.

The DFO Field Trip for Sunday, August 11 will be to Cherry Creek SP Wetlands Loop led by Karen vonSaltza (cell:  303-941-4881).  Approximately 3 miles walk (half day) conducted on the second Sunday of each month to explore the Wetlands area of Cherry Creek SP.  Meet at the Prairie Loop at 0800.  The walk is on park trails but can become muddy and slippery during periods of inclement weather.  Dress accordingly.  Carry water and snacks.  Lunch is optional.  There is no sign-up required.  A state parks pass or daily pass is required to enter the park.

Good Birding,
Joe Roller,
