This morning I investigated a big brouhaha of birds in my back yard in Littleton, Jeff Co.  After a few minutes of staring into a thicket where numerous birds were throwing a fit, I found an Eastern Screech Owl about 10 ft away. The bird was unhappy with the situation and flew into some big pines just across the fence.  Although it was trying hard to hide, it gave me some decent views.  The blue jays, red-breasted nuthatches, black-capped chickadees, and curious house finches and robins eventually left it alone. I thought it might stay for a while, but it was gone when I checked on it 30 min later. Maybe it was just hiding better or took off in desperate search of a cavity!

Some crummy photos of the screech owl and list of other birds, many of which participated in the angry mob, are in the eBird list below.

Good yard birding!
