Boulder Reservoir closure

Since they are draining the reservoir, access to the sparrow area off the 55th St
Parking is now closed.

Hi Joyce,
The sparrow doesn't appear to have been seen since the 31st in the morning. Personally, I've tried four times, but I guess now this is a nail in the coffin of this continueing rarity, which is unfortunate. The sparrow area appears to be closed because it's near the shore, however, Boulder Reservoir's website says the main north trail is still open. But on the hopeful side, due to the drainage, there is potential for a large number of shorebirds (which should we visible from the still open trail), maybe even some rarities!

Good news for the birds; with the lot closed there will (hopefully) be a lot less dog traffic in the closed area. Note that It’s about a mile hike to get to that same NW observation spot from the Coot lake/ Scott Carpenter parking, which is usually pretty good for birding as well- although can be very popular in good weather.
