I have finally been able to enjoy
Broad-tailed Hummingbirds this season, with 6 encountered 4/13, including 4 heading north at Mother Cabrini Shrine, and 2 at Ken Caryl Valley. So nice to hear this species' stuttering wing whine again. A
Peregrine Falcon was also over Mother Cabrini Shire in the afternoon, soaring over jousting bull elk. On 4/12 a
Myrtle Warbler near my KC home was new for the season, and a
Dusky Grouse was down out of the hills where Massey Draw exits its rocky canyon. My neighbor told me he had a "Blue Grouse" in his yard, across the street from my home, a few days ago, but I don't know. He said it was a "big one."
