Ken Caryl Valley, Jefferson report May 9

There was a nice variety of migrants near my Ken Caryl Valley home today when I was able to check, with 3 inches of snow and light snow all day. The variety was high, but no high numbers. Very little song from the migrants, but robin numbers were swelled by migrants or those displaced by the snow cover, and they were noisy.  My immediate neighborhood and the adjacent open space corridor of Massey Draw (private open space with no public access) had these migrants among other species: 

1 Sharp-shinned Hawk, ! Least Flycatcher, 1 Dusky Flycatcher, 1 Gray Flycatcher, 1 Empidonax sp., 1 Warbling Vireo, 4 House Wrens, 2 Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, 5 Western Bluebirds, 1 Swainson's Thrush, 2 Hermit Thrush, 1 Brown Thrasher (locally rare), 8 Chipping Sparrows, 1 Clay-colored Sparrow, 6 Vesper Sparrows, 3 Lark Sparrows, 1 Lincoln's Sparrow, 1 Green-tailed Towhee, 3 Bullock's Orioles, 1 Virginia's Warbler, 1 Audubon's Warbler, 1 Western Tanager, 4 Black-headed Grosbeaks, and 3 Lazuli Buntings.

I last saw the Swamp Sparrow in my yard on May 2, his 101st day since he first appeared Jan 22. He went out singing.
