Dear CoBirders,

This is just an inquiry of interest on the topic of Mountain Plover in Park. While the county has a history of a good population of Mountain Plovers, in my experience these past couple of years, they are presently hard to locate and seem to be very few, But I am interested in trying to search a large area of suitable habitat that is seldom birded. I refer to the large mountain park-land generally south of the town of Hartsel. There are a few county roads, and a network of other roads that provide some access. Some areas probably have limited access via road due to private ownership. But I am interested in the idea of trying to work through these publicly-accessible roads to search for plovers, perhaps in June to early July. If anyone is interested in joining such an effort, should it happen, please email me off list.

It would require an early start to get all the way out there early in the day, and for me it would most probably be on a weekday. The birding in the habitat in question is low for avian diversity, so for general birding out there in plover habitat may not be thrilling. So, again, this is an inquiry of possible interest.
