Today a 1st cycle MEW GULL offered a pretty good study as it stood with Ring-billeds on the ice off the mouth of Cherry Creek west of the Pelican parking area. I was happy to see it, but I missed the way I used to walk up to within 15 feet of these birds back at the California coast. Other gulls of some note were 1 adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL on the ice about 300 m east of the marina, and a 1st cycle THAYER'S GULL near Cherry Creek mouth.
Also noted: 1 female RED-BREASTED MERGANSER (with some 350 Commons), 1 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, 6 or 7 BALD EAGLES, and 1 RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET (Pipeline Trail).
