Not rare but very localized breeders in Colorado. Bob and Claire Knapp and I found at least three singing males (three heard, two seen, one photographed) between the bird banding area and the Platte River. Listen for a Yellow Warbler song that doesn't sound right. Redstarts have a great deal of variation in their song and as one wise birder in Illinois once told me, 'Listen to the voice, not what the field guide says they say." 

The trails are squishy. Recommend boots and mosquito repellant.

I also had the pleasure to see this species at Chatfield a few days ago, along with Least Flycatcher and Red eyed Vireo (heard). Interestingly, even though South Platte Park is directly north and fairly similar habitat along the South Platte, I've never seen these local Chatfield species in South Platte Park, except for a Least Flycatcher, which was during migration.
