All,

On July 6 the American Ornithological Society published the 64th Supplement to the Check-list of North American Birds.  A nice summary is on the ABA web site at:
https://www.aba.org/aos-checklist-supplement-redux-v-2023/  As far as I can tell there are two changes which affect birds residing in Colorado.

Northern Goshawk is split into two species: Eurasian Goshawk and American Goshawk (Accipiter atricapillus).  This reverses action in 1957 when the species were lumped.

Cordilleran and Pacific-slope Flycatchers are lumped into Western Flycatcher (Empidonax difficilis).  This reverses action in 1989 when the species was split.

These changes do not affect the total number of species documented in Colorado, as there are no records of either Eurasian Goshawk or Pacific-slope Flycatcher. The total remains at 519, but will probably increase to 520 when the five submitted Limpkin records have been reviewed.
