Loggerhead Shrike behavior

COBirders--  Jim Thompson of La Junta sent me two photos of a singing Loggerhead Shrike he took very recently (see below).  He asks, “Each time it sang it had its left foot raised as if listening for a reply....... is this action common???”  Jim says he will appreciate all answers.

Hi all

In quick browse of Birds of NA could only find this "foot" reference:  "Some birds sleep on one foot, drawing the other up among the feathers" ... maybe it just woke up or had an itch?  :-)
