The Rocky Mountain Arsenal Common loon was still on Lake Ladora at 4:15 pm yesterday, October 12.

Also at the Arsenal:   a flight of about 150 sandhill cranes came over at 3:20 p.m.   They flew in V-formation, then circled several times (to gain altitude?) and flew south, as far as we could tell.   There was a cattle egret in among the bison, at about 3 pm at Mile 7-8 on the Wildlife Drive.   Four long-billed shorebirds (possible long-billed dowitcher, but were in winter plumage) foraging with the ducks and the bison in two small ponds at this location.  Canvasbacks,  1 bufflehead male, ring-necked ducks, lesser scaup, gadwall, American widgeon among the ducks on Lower Derby.   A beautiful afternoon at the Arsenal.

One Palm Warbler continues for a 3rd day (at least) along the Clear Creek
Trail just east of Golden today.
The location (39.760985, -105.221082) is about 100 meters east of the
junction of the trails under the Highway 58
overpass and frequents a bare weedy area below a big black trash bag caught
in the fence above.

Hi everyone, I've just wrapped up the last week of banding at Connected
Lakes State Park in Grand Junction. As with last week, storms had an effect
on the amount of net hours I could get in, including Thursday which was
cancelled due to weather. I banded 50 birds of 12 species over the past 4
days, including 1 returning Spotted Towhee from 2017. The highlight of the
week was a Chestnut-sided Warbler, which I continuously caught
throughout the week! The following species account represents the effort of
157.5 net hours at this site.
 
White-crowned Sparrow (Gambel’s): 19
 
Ruby-crowned Kinglet: 8
 
Wilson's Warbler: 5
 
Orange-crowned Warbler: 4
 
Townsend's Warbler: 3

Despite drought and storms, cold and heat, this station was still very
productive and an absolute blast to work at. Running this station would not
