Crow Valley Camp Ground, Weld County

COBirders,

Besides the Black-throated Blue (south of the picnic shelter) and Palm Warblers (west end of campground) reported by Glenn Walbeck this morning, there were a few other good birds present or still present from previous day reports.  The American Bittern continues in the north pasture; it was junk-a-lugging and relatively easy to hear and find.  There were two sandpiper species flying in a distance in the north pasture.  They did not have the stiff wing beats of the spotted and had white-rumps.  Also in the north pasture was a Loggerhead Shrike, Blue Grosbeak and Yellow-breasted Chat.  American Redstarts were seen in the NW end of the campground as well as south of the picnic shelter. I also saw a Black-throated Gray Warbler and a Red-breasted Nuthatch in the same tree with the Palm Warbler.

I had reports of a Nashville Warbler but did not see it.

Yellow-rumped Warbler, Lincoln's Sparrow and Thrush numbers have dropped dramatically from when I was at CV last Thursday.

There is still lots of good birding going on, so get out there.
