Hello All,
Today concludes our first week of bird banding at Ridgway State Park in Ridgway, Colorado. A slow week with 53 newly banded birds of 17 species. Somehow every school group got to see at least one bird. We did have a nice array of species including Ouray County's first Orchard Oriole.
Downy Woodpecker-1
Red-naped Sapsucker-1
Black-capped Chickadee-3 (including a recap from 2021)
Gray Catbird-6
American Robin-4
Bushtit-1
Virginia's Warbler-5
MacGilivray's Warbler-2
Wilson's Warbler-11
Yellow Warbler-2
Orange-crowned Warbler-3
House Wren-1
Western Tanager-4
Green-tailed Towhee-5
Common Yellowthroat-1
Song Sparrow-2
Lincoln's Sparrow-1

Sightings outside of the banding station include daily flyovers of Pinyon Jay and Evening Grosbeak, Woodhouse's and Steller's Jay are feeding on the Gambel's Oak at the station, and every few days a Golden Eagle does a flyby.
Happy birding,
