Birders,
An update.  A Black Rosy-Finch was here with 6 GC for a short while.  They all flew off a little while ago.  The Common Redpoll has been on the thistle feeders several times this morning.  Pine Siskins and both Goldfinches are also present.

Birders,
Between 2 and 3 dozen Rosy's are present as well as the Redpoll.  The Rosy's are feeding in the backyard on the new feeding platform that Tammy built to go above the fire pit on the deck.  The platform should made for some great photo opportunities as it will be in the sun much longer than the patio is.  If the Rosy's are not on the patio, you will need to walk up the path a few feet towards the patio in order to view the feeding platform.  Please be careful as it is slippery.

Late yesterday afternoon the Northern Goshawk put on quite a show.  It was first spotted by a birder (sorry, forgot the name) in the tree in our yard and then flew to the south and stayed in that tree for about an hour.  It was calling at that time and the call was similar to the juv call on Sibley's app even though this bird is clearly an adult. There may have been another bird calling from the north at that time unless it was an echo.  I posted the sighting at that time and called a few people that had asked me to notify them.  Just as some birders arrived, it flew up the street and out of sight.  It later flew to the top of a pine tree up the street and gave some birders some great views.  We then saw it fly back down past the house and unsuccessfully try for a Eurasian Collared-Dove. It posed for a little while to the south and then took off and disappeared.  This was probably about 4:00 and the sun had already set here before 3:00 and it was getting pretty cold.

Birders,
There are about 6 Rosy-Finches in the backyard after a 2 day absence.
I saw the Redpoll at 4:30 pm yesterday.

Ann Troth and I got Ira's Rosy-finches this morning between 8:05 and 8:45. I counted 5 Gray-crowned and 1 Hepburn's on the back feeder tray. We also saw the Common Redpoll at the front thistle feeders at about 8:10 and again at 8:20 for just a few minutes.

Thank you Ira and Tammy!!
