After the dense fog lifted this morning, Valco Ponds in Pueblo (Pueblo County), was a good place to see hundreds of swallows. Many Tree Swallows, also Bank, Northern Rough-winged, Barn, Cliff, and Violet-green (all six regular swallow species in Colorado). Other things, 6 Eastern Phoebes, 2 Black Phoebes, over 10 Say's Phoebes, a Greater Scaup, Red-breasted Merganser, Common Goldeneye, Bonaparte's, Franklin's, a late Herring Gull, and quite a few Yellow-rumped Warblers, a few bright males, among many other birds. A pretty birdy morning at Valco Ponds, with David Tønnessen and Jim Merritt.
