Hooded Warbler in Crowley County 5/9

I birded Olney Springs SWA, in Crowley County starting at 11:57am, for 41 minutes. It wasn't raining, like it was most of the way from Lamar to there. The dirt road off the canal into where you park, was certainly muddy (which I think most dirt roads are in SE Colorado today). I didn't visit any of them today, since I figured they might be too muddy to get to. Hopefully they will dry up for the weekend birders.

The highlights from at Olney Springs SWA today, including a male Hooded Warbler (first heard chipping, then seen well), also Broad-winged Hawk, Barn Owl, a Violet-green Swallow, singing Plumbeous Vireo, Western Wood-Pewee, single Virginia's and Wilson's Warblers, and many Yellow-rumped, Orange-crowned, and Yellow Warblers. A pretty good stop, for the trip home.

I ended with 21 species of warblers in SE Colorado (May 2-9). Happy to be home, after a fun trip, birding with many friends from around Colorado. Thanks to the local Lamar and SE Colorado birders, and all other birders for all their help! It was fun to see many great birds. Certainly the Painted Redstart, Lesser Nighthawk, Prothonotary, Worm-eating, Black-throated Green, Hooded, Chestnut-sided, Tennessee, Blackpoll, Black-and-white, Black-throated Gray Warblers, Northern Parula, American Redstart, Northern Waterthrush, Ovenbird, Baltimore Oriole, Summer Tanager, many shorebirds, among others were the highlights for me.
