Pueblo birds 9/24 (Yellow-throated Warbler etc.)

David Chartier and I walked all of the Valco Ponds/Rock Canyon area,
below Pueblo Reservoir dam, Pueblo County. During our nearly 6 mile
walk, we found nearly 60 species of birds. It was overcast and some
drizzle at times.

The Yellow-throated Warbler I found on Friday, was present just east
of the Cottonwood Picnic Area parking lot, on the south side of the
River. Another surprising bird at this location was a Steller's Jay!
There were a good number of birds around here as usual.

Over in the eastern part of Osprey Picnic Area, on the North Side of
the River, we found a nice flock of birds, which included Cassin's and
Plumbeous Vireos, Yellow-breasted Chat, Brown Thrasher, Golden-crowned
Kinglet, Mountain Chickadees, Red-breasted Nuthatch, among other
birds. Both Eastern and Black Phoebes continue as well. Other
warblers included, a Yellow, Orange-crowned, Wilson's, Common
Yellowthroat, and a bunch of Yellow-rumpeds.
