Pueblo birds Jan 1-3

Since it is January, lots of birds and birders looking around Pueblo looking around.

The last three days (January 1-3) 107 species for me in Pueblo County.

Pueblo Reservoir highlights: 1 Red-throated and 1 Common Loon, 2 Red-necked Grebes, 3 Long-tailed Ducks, Greater Scaup, 2 American White Pelicans, 1 adult Great Black-backed, a few Lesser Black-backed, Iceland (Thayer's), Bonaparte's, California Gulls, Eared, Horned, Western, 1 Clark's Grebes, Rock Wren, Mountain Bluebird, American Pipits.  Waterbirds are much easier to see, when it is isn't windy, a good scope is needed for Pueblo Reservoir.  

East of the Pueblo Reservoir dam along Arkansas River to Pueblo Nature Center in Pueblo a very lost Northern Pygmy-Owl, Black and Say's Phoebes, Winter Wren, male Barrow's Goldeneyes, Hermit Thrush, Eastern Bluebirds, 2 White-throated Sparrows, Greater Yellowlegs, Northern Shrike, American Pipit, Wilson's Snipe, Cedar Waxwings, Yellow-rumped Warblers, Wild Turkeys, some of the Reservoir gulls will show up on ponds below the dam as well, Lesser Black-backed and Iceland (Thayer's) are two that were seen.  I missed it, though a Greater Roadrunner was seen again as well.

Pueblo City Park, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Greater White-fronted Goose, White-winged Doves.

Pueblo West, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, White-winged Doves, Lesser Goldfinch.
