A few other highlights from Sunday in SE Colorado.
Singing Northern Parula at Lamar Community College, north end in Prowers County.
At Melody Tempel Grove, I saw Barn Owl, Warbling Vireo, and Wilson's Warbler, others saw a Northern Waterthrush.
No luck with the Painted Redstart in Eads, no sightings at all on Sunday. The e-bird report for this date, was actually from May 4th.
30 or more people were able to see the male Prothonotary Warbler that I found, just south of Eads, at Kiowa Ceeek, at Road 40 in Kiowa County on May 5th. There was also a Northern Waterthrush here.
A Black-throated Gray Warbler was near Wiley in Bent County.
A Indigo Bunting and Virginia's Warbler were at Hasty Campground, Bent County.
Mississippi Kites were flying over Lamar, Prowers County in the late afternoon. I had missed them on other days.
Ended up with 10 species of warblers in SE CO today, up to 14 species of warblers for the trip, so far. 19 species of warblers for the year in Colorado.
I'll be leading a group around SE Colorado, the next three days. The weather looks cooler and perhaps more rainy from Tuesday and after. We'll post updates.
