Friday marked the start of the CFO’s long weekend to SE Colorado.  We headed out is cold, wind and rain, and kept in it most of the day, although we managed to dodge most big storms.

Last Chance (Washington) produced a single Northern Waterthrush plus common migrants like Green-tailed Towhee.  In Hugo (Lincoln) for lunch we has a Broad-winged Hawk.  When word arrived of Duane Nelson’s observations at Temple Grove, we hightailed it on to Bent County.  There we joined Duane but dipped his Mourning Warbler.  Nevertheless we were able to find Northern Waterthrush, Ovenbird, American Redstart, Black and White Warbler, Hooded Warbler and Summer Tanager along with three Harris’s Sparrows and two White-throated Sparrows and a possible Golden-crowned Sparrow.

Today might be even windier and wetter, but we will try to explore Baca County.
