to COBIRDS
On Tuesday (4/15) I had my FOS spotted towhees, along with a red naped sapsucker which hung around my yard feeding in the Austrian pines for three days before departing. On Thursday (4/17) mourning doves and barn swallows arrived, and yesterday (4/19) we had our first broad tailed hummingbird, and then at night the first poorwill of the season. This beats my earliest record for poorwill by 4 days!
Today, brown headed cowbirds arrived. Still cool to watch the males with their peculiar displays.
Cooper's hawks are becoming more evident, with sightings of a male and/ female almost daily, and have likely begun nesting nearby.
Also, Cassin's finches have been around almost daily since mid march and continue singing in the yard most days. Lesser goldfinches have also been here each day.
Good birding all,
