I was in Georgetown on a job and with extra time went over the Georgetown Lake just east of town. There were only a couple of Pied Billed Grebes and some Ring Necked Ducks on the lake, but in the willows I heard and then observed a pair of White Crowned Sparrows. I am not always good with some sparrows, but the White Crowned I know well from being a ranger in Vermont, and I was able to get really good looks at these guys, pretty white throats and yellow lores and all. They were foraging around, a lot on the ground, and making the "tseep" calls. I thought it was a little unusual to find them up here, but there they were.
