a Cobirds
This is just an FYI that probably goes without saying, but.....when looking for the sapsucker, please do not go beyond the vicinity of the curbs. Everything beyond that is private property. When we were viewing this bird this afternoon, we happened to be joined by neighbor Carol, a property owner on the block. Carol was excited about the bird and wanted an opportunity to see it. She kindly took us onto the lot with bird’s favorite Austrian pines as her guests, where we all a had nice look at the sapsucker. I know we were observed there by other birders, some of whom joined us. I have to emphasize that this was a one-time thing and simply a lucky break. As we were leaving I saw at least one other birder moving onto the lot after Carol’s departure. We must not do this. The way we maintain cordial relationships with property owners is first and foremost to respect their property, even if going onto it seems harmless.
Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.
