Since I enjoy reading “firsts” from other folk, here are my First of Year birds, butterflies, & blooms for Boulder County. Every day there seems to be something new.
April 3, mourning dove at our home on East Arapahoe
April 5, yellowlegs (greater?) and snipe just east of our home on East Arapahoe
April 7: Milbert’s tortoiseshells, pasqueflower, southern grasslands
April 9: Painted lady at our home on East Arapahoe
April 11: western bluebird, Say’s Phoebe at our home on East Arapahoe
April 12: blue-winged teal just east of our home on East Arapahoe
April 13: wood duck just east of our home on East Arapahoe
April 18: black-crowned night heron at Sawhill Ponds; Audubon’s warblers at our home on East Arapahoe; white pelicans, South Teller Lake
April 19: American avocets, just east of our home on East Arapahoe
April 20: yellow-headed blackbirds, Sombrero Marsh
