At about 7:30, an Eastern Screech-Owl gave several trills and one whinny from somewhere behind my Centennial home (at roughly deKoevend Park). This is the second time I've heard them this year -- and this is the first year I've heard them at home (in six years).

A few days ago, a mixed flock of songbirds was mobbing something unseen in a neighbor's apple tree. I suspected a Cooper's Hawk, but never saw one. I also suspected a cat. It's possible it was a Screech-Owl, I suppose.

Also of note -- on 10/18, a short visit from a lean hummingbird. The bird was hawking insects and not visiting the still blooming agastaches. I hurriedly made new sugar water for the feeders, but the bird didn't seem to stick around. I was surprised both by the behavior and also the leanness of the bird.
