Today was a steady day at the GVAS station, with 10 new birds and 4 recaptures (including two that were banded in a previous year) of 5 species.  This includes a new species for the season, a Pink-sided Junco.  Numbers have been holding pretty steady for the last few days, though I hope it will pick up soon.

Blue-gray Gnatcatcher 1
Bewick's Wren 1
Dark-eyed Junco (Pink-sided) 1 (FOS)
White-crowned Sparrow (Gambel's) 6 (plus two repeats banded yesterday and one return from a different season)
Spotted Towhee 1 (plus one return from a previous season)

Public banding day is on Saturday the 28th from 7:30 to 11:00 - don't miss it!  The earlier you arrive, the more likely you are to see a bird!  Anyone is also welcome to visit the banding station at Connected Lakes State Park any weekday from 7:30 to 11ish, but try to arrive before 9:30 or so (the school groups get here at 9:30). Hope to see you there!
