Cobirders,

Do you know Greg Miller? Meet him Saturday! Featured in Mark Obmascik’s Best Seller, The Big Year, he saw over 700 ABA birds the hard way. He worked 50-hour weeks to finance his trips, subsisting on Jif peanut butter and pretzels for days. Jack Black played Greg in The Big Year movie. Greg’s fun! Check out his website at www.gregmillerbirding.com.

Meet Greg at Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory’s BBQ for the Birds this Saturday, October 5. (Snack on anything but pretzels). Greg will lead a bird walk at 7:00 a.m. He will give an e-Bird workshop later and conclude with the 2013 keynote address.

What else is special at the picnic? Bird Banding. Kids Games. Live Raptors. Music. Silent and Live Auctions. Good food, better than pretzels and Jif.

Another highlight will be superb photographer Noppadol Paothong’s photography workshop.

Noppadol is presenting Save the Last Dance, about our famed bird dancers, the fascinating grouse family, most of which can be seen in Colorado. Come to the museum at 7:00 on Thursday, October 3, co-sponsored by Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Go to www.dmns.org and click on Education and After Hours to register.
