Greetings -

This evening while heading from Saguache to  the Crestone area, I found yet another SLV Dickcissel field.

This one is on Saguache CR-X between CR-50 and CR-52.

Most of the birds were on the south side of the road in the field with the pink and lavender flowered plant (clover maybe?)

The field to the north was being cut - not sure if the Dickcissel field is about to suffer the same fate.

I kept hoping one of the birds would pose, so that I could capture its picture with the Sangres in the background, but none would cooperate.

Gorgeous spot for a cool bird.

Good birding,

What does the SLV stand for? Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the report Kathy. SLV is San Luis Valley in the south-central part of Colorado. It sure has been quite the year for this species down here!
