to Colorado Birds
Autumn in Colorado feels, to me, like cold mornings. And the season sounds like sparrows. So I was happy to encounter, this morning, a fairly substantial collection (50+, for sure) of sparrows in the prodigious collection of weeds growing at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Centennial (Arapahoe). The weeds are up on an unused hill in the southeastern corner of the cemetery. I was there without binoculars, looking less for birds than for native wildflowers (few and far between). So I can only say that there were many Chipping Sparrows and a few other species mixed in, based on the variety of calls I heard from the birds as they flew away from me.

Should you venture to the cemetery, note that there are a few dirt paths up the hill. Vehicles aren't allowed up it, but people seem to be. Walk slowly and look low, as the birds, if they remain there, may be deep in the weeds and seem to fly away with every step...
