Before going on a leisurely walk through Lee Martinez Park Maya and I observed an adult Cooper’s Hawk fly up to a Siberian elm tree snap a twig off then proceeded to nest build.  At the park I heard and saw a single Myrtle’s race Yellow-rumped Warbler in with a flock of American Goldfinches.  As we meandered down the trail in the hood of an Eastern Screech-Owl territory a male and female Wood Duck perched in a Cottonwood looking for a nest cavity.  In a nearby tree a Blue Jay was imitating the rattle call of an American Crow and Western Meadowlark was singing in a nearby meadow.  Common Mergansers rafted down the river and a distant Eastern Screech-Owl trill was heard as we made our way back home.
