Hi cobirders. My son Bob took me here from Ten am to 1:30 pm here. A mostly sunny warm calm day with few birds showing up . Rock Wren was my first this year. A birder from
Oregon with a camera w a telescopic lens, said he saw five. and not much else. several small flocks of sparrows mostly Chipping. A flock of wintering Western Meadowlarks, a couple
singing to keep the flock together as they were feeding in the grass. There were at least 5 probably more. At feeder near the Contact station there was a family of American Goldfinches.
The small lakes near there had no birds. We did see 3 Red Tailed Hawks. The large lake on the north side of the road going east provided the large number of birds. Mostly Coots about
200 and Ruddy Ducks 40. There were a few Redheads, Pied-billed Grebes, and D. C. Cormorants.
Should have gone to Chatfield. Lunch in grove of trees.
Nice day not many birds.
