South Platte from 88th south

Walked the South Platte from 88th Avenue south this morning. Along with the usual mix of ducks, there was one Hooded Merganser along with many Common Mergansers. Four male Red-breasted Merganser on the Thornton Gravel Ponds made a merganser trifecta. A dark morph Ferruginous Hawk and rufous morph Red-tail added to the fun. Many Common Goldeneyes, but no Barrow’s.
