Co-birders,
The Grace’s Warbler is still around in the El Dorado Open Space as previously described. One other birder (at least) and I saw it this morning. He (Russ T) saw it probably between 10 and 10:30. I didn’t see it until closer to 11:30. It was in the top of one of the ponderosas, squabbling with a Western Tanager (nice contrast!). At the time we saw it, it was easy to stand in some nice shade and look over the concrete wall up the trees. The Lewis’ Woodpeckers were cooperative on the hike up (although the empids were not — drat!).
Both Russ T and I (separately) encountered the Red-Eyed Vireo at the South Mesa Trailhead. While I was there (about 1:00pm), I was delighted to see a Bullock’s Oriole. AND what I’m almost certain was a lone Cedar Waxwing (I know these birds well from long residence in CA)! And I’m wondering what the likelihood of THAT bird is at this time of the year????
Good birding!
