The sparrows have arrived in full force at Chico, and with them, our first consistently busy day of the season. We totaled 63 banded birds and 1 recapture––eclipsing our previous top day of the fall by nearly 20 birds––and 18 species. We're still getting some steady captures of Wilson's and Orange-crowned Warblers, sparrows are starting to take over, representing just over half the total captures today. Among them were our first Song Sparrow and Spotted Towhee of the season.
